When Brynn started school, I was terrified. Terrified to send her to school to begin with, but then also terrified about her being so different than all of the other students. It's amazing the changes that can happen within, in such a short amount of time.
At the program, they sang a few songs, but one song was very meaningful to me because of my feelings concerning our circumstances and experiences this year. It brought tears to my eyes and caused me to choke up a little bit. It has a very cute melody.
The World is a Rainbow (you can hear the melody here)
The world is a rainbow that's filled with many colors
Yellow, black and white and brown, you see them all around.
The world is a rainbow, with many types of people,
It takes all types of people, to make the world go round.
Now you be you, and I'll be me
That's the way we were meant to be
But the world is a mixing cup
Just look what happens when you mix it up.
The world is a rainbow with many tupes of people
And when we work together, it's such a sight to see
The world is beautiful when we live in harmony.
Even though we might not be here forever, I am glad this has been part of her schema for this time in our lives. I've said before that my children are color blind....now I would say that they see color, but they embrace the difference. I hope that these experiences will help them to avoid some of the biases that I had growing up, both pertaining to religion and race.
Brynn, we are proud of you for all of your hard work this year. You are a wonderful and thoughtful big sister and you have become a wonderful reader, writer and artist. We are so excited for the many years of learning to have ahead. You are a joy to have in our family!

What a beautiful little girl! I can't believe that she is done with kindergarden already! Sounds like a very special program!
wow, she is looking so old and beautiful.
YEA BRYNN!! And what beautiful classmates she has. I have always been jealous of caramel skin...
Ooh, I like that kindergarten "graduation" so much better than so many I've seen, that try to make it like high school. No caps, no gowns, just outdoors in their chairs. Perfect.
