The third day he had two birthday parties to get to, and after the festivities were over he took the kids out to Folsom to play in the American River. They LOVED it! They were all in heaven the entire weekend. As he was driving home, I called and as he told me all about the day I said, "Joe, be careful, you've outdone me, the kids are going to expect this kind of activity when I get home, and I can't compete! They won't want me to come home" But as the day ended, the kids were SPENT! They all went to eat at Wendy's and then all the kids fell asleep in the car for the 45 minute drive home. Abby woke up right as they pulled into Woodland screaming for a drink of water. Joe told her she would have to wait a couple of minutes. Of course I had the pleasure of hearing all of it, and heard her screaming hysterically, "I hate it when Mom is gone! Dad, you ruin everything! I want Mom to come home! I hate it when she is gone! You ruin EVERYTHING!" We both laughed, and Joe said, "See, you'll be just fine!"
On day 4 Joe stayed home from early morning bishopric meeting and got the kids ready for church. They went to sacrament meeting and the first half of primary before coming to pick me up from the airport. As I walked off the plane, I was so excited to see everyone! I turned the corner and as I stepped onto the escalator I caught view of all of them waving with big smiles! Of course I started to cry as I saw all three come running to the bottom of the escalator to greet me. I was bombarded with hugs and kisses and it made the bitterness of leaving so sweet! It's good to get away, because the best part is the coming home! Thanks again Joe for a wonderful weekend!

;) what a great husband (and dad-whoa you amaze me too!)
The best part about leaving, is coming home. I cried, again, reading your teraful homecoming. Abby cracks me up, "You ruin EVERYTHING." Joe is so good to laugh about it.I cannnot believe all of the things Joe managed to do. I am not sure Paul would have been as adventureous.
