Last week I flew to Utah for a few days to see Emily graduate from BYU! She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing! Way to go Emily! Joseph was a trooper and took the kids for 3 days so I could go and be totally there. It was really nice to be with my parent's and siblings, I haven't done that for a very long time.
Emily was chosen to be one of the speakers at graduation. She did an awesome job! I loved listening to her, and I cried like a baby I was so proud! The Dean of the Nursing Department also recognized Emily in her speech by saying, "Many of our students receive scholarships and awards for their outstanding scholarship. Recently, Senior Emily Vest won the Isabel Hampton Robb outstanding state nurse leader. This is a national award given to only one student. "
Here is the blurb they had in the program about her..... Emily Vest was born to William and Rowene Vest in Payson, Utah, and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 2002. After high school, Emily attended BYU-Idaho and graduated with an associate’s degree. While at BYU-Idaho Emily received the Thomas E. Ricks Award and served as an executive member of the Associated Women Students organization. Since coming to BYU in 2004 she has been on the dean’s list several times and has received numerous scholarships. Emily served as the undergraduate representative for the BYU College of Nursing Evaluation Committee and just completed her time as President of the Utah Student Nurses Association. She is also a member of the National Student Nurses’ Honor Society of Nursing. Emily enjoys running and has completed two marathons and two half marathons. She also loves snorkeling, baking, dancing singing, swimming, hiking, and spending time with her family. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in women’s health and teach on a collegiate level.
I am so excited for Em, she has accepted her dream job, to work in Labor and Delivery at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, and was accepted into the University of Utah's masters program to further her education and become a Nurse Practioner. You have exciting times ahead Emily!

Congrats to your sister Amy. That is quite an accomplishment. Your family is full of beautiful people Way to go Joe for taking the kids for three days. You are Super Dad! Amy your mom and Emily look a lot alike, and you look more like your dad.
Congratulations to your sister! It was fun to see a picture of you with your whole family.
My mom, Amber, and I just ran into your mom and Em at the women's expo this past weekend. Jen and Sarah were there as well. It was so much fun to see them.
I knew Emily graduated, but I hadn't realize all the accomplishments she had. She is an amazing person, just like everyone in your family.
Seeing the pictures of your family made me miss you all a lot. Oh how I wish we still went on our outings to KOA (which I think burned down-so sad).
How nice of Joseph to take all three kids for three days. I can't wait to have a break like that.
Yay for Emily! It seems that being remarkable runs (no pun intended) in your family!
remarkable runs..?
Paul, i think your Amy warned us one time your blog that you (and your brothers) have an unusual interest in GI tract and it's funtions.
I guess we all get into the trap at times, I can't listen to Josh Groban's "Remember when it rained" w/o thinking of the poor man ahead of me in the Moab half marathon.
yeah em! i was sorry that i couldn't make it but i am super glad that you are such a great documentor of our family too so that i could see how great it was. when i ask wade how it went all i get is one word. "great." so i'm glad that you fill me in on the details. sure love ya am!
Wow! What a huge accomplishment. You should be very proud. Also, very exciting about your little dancer Brynn. That is so neat that she is being recognized to have such natural talent. Dancing is something I have always felt I missed out on. You will have to take video and post so we can all enjoy!
Amy! If it weren't for you I would have nothing documented on my life! Thanks for being such a great sister and for sharing and celebrating special moments with me. I really wouldn't have had as great a weekend if you wouldn't have been there. I am humbled to think that you have flown to watch me run the marathon, to speak at graduation and have always just been there as my best friend when you have so much going on as a mom and wife. Thank you! I sure love you, Joe, Brynn, Abby and Aaron!
