Brynn

Brynn and Abby have been taking ballet lessons this year at the Applegate Dance Studio in Davis. Every year Applegate does a big production for a few days at the end of June. We found out recently that Brynn's class and Abby's class would not be participating in the big ballet because they are in pre-ballet, and they wait until the students are in beginning ballet to put them in the show.

A few weeks ago, I received an email from the director of the ballet school "I just wanted to let you know that Brynn is very talented! I really enjoyed watching her dance when I dropped in to watch a class last month. As you know Brynn's class is scheduled to do a small recital at the end of the session at the studio.

I am wondering if you would be interested in having Brynn join the Beginning Ballet Class from 3:00-3:50 and have her be a part of the large June production that Applegate Dance Company puts on at the Veteran's Memorial Theater in late June?"

I told the director that I would think about it. It's a big time commitment, and Brynn would be the youngest in the class. I met with her and talked with Joseph and we felt like this would be something she could handle. So we agreed.

When we went to her new class time this week, they were assigning parts to the girls. I was in and out with Aaron, so I only saw part of it. While I was with Aaron at the park next to the studio, one of the dad's asked me which part my daughter was assigned. I told him I thought it was Tinker Bell, or some kind of fairy. He looked at me and said, "Wow, that's the most prestigious part for this age group!" I was kind of shocked and I think he was too, because Brynn is the new girl in the class. I then went to watch. Sure enough she has a little solo part in the program where she dances with and around a bigger Tinker Bell from the ballet company before inviting all of the other little princesses to come and join her. She was so cute and graceful. She has a very natural grace about her. Brynn sat up so straight with her chin slightly raised and waved her arm slowly with a little, elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist action. It was so fun to watch. She is soooo serious and so cute! Who knows where she learned how to do that!

Anyway, after the class, she was so excited! The director came out to me and said she had put Brynn in the main part for her class because she really has alot of talent, but wanted to check to make sure that was okay with me and to see if I thought Brynn would be okay doing all of the performances since she is the youngest in the class. I told her she was really excited about the part and that I would take the next few months to prep her about the amount of people she would be performing in front of. She was so excited to come home and show her dad her part. We can't wait to watch her perform this summer!

She gets so excited for dance each week, it's so fun to see her enjoying something so much! The look on her face as she tells me how much she loves it is just priceless. This week she said, "Mom, I just love dance, I hope I can always take dance!" Abby laughed and said, "You can't take dance when you'we a teenagew!" They were pretty amused when I told them that you can and I had them even more amused when I told them there were dance classes for moms and grandmas. But I won't be putting on a leotard and spandex any time soon! :)
