Things we've noticed about Aaron lately. I've been amazed by his "boyness." Really, with all of the princess movies, and girly stuff we have around this place, you would think there would be no hope he would come out with any male identity, but as I've watched him, I've realized there's a whole lot of "nature" that just comes shining through. I must say though, he can't resist the girls shoes, especially the ones with heels. He loves to clack them all over the tile floors. It always gives us something to smile about. I remember dressing my brother Wade up in my dance costumes and tutus, and I think he turned out just fine. So we're not worried. ;)
Aaron is obsessed with the movie "Cars," and I need to take Rascal Flats, "Life is a Highway" off of our playlist because whenever he hears it he runs and points to the tv saying, "Caws, Caws!" until someone starts the movie for him. It's really cute.
This week he found a cardboard cylinder from an old wrapping paper roll and immediately it became a sword. Now everything is a sword, he loves my Vitamix wand, and I have to admit, it does make a pretty nice sword. All week I've been modeling how to hit the other person's sword without touching any part of their body. He's getting it, but sometimes he just can't resist a whack on the head to Brynn or Abby. He isn't easily reproved. He always comes running to me for a great big hug and to cry on my shoulder. I guess he's teaching me to show that increase of love afterward.
He's still as addicted as ever to the "first year's" disposable sippy cups. Whenever he wants his milk, he opens the dishwasher, climbs on the door and gets a cup and lid out, opens the fridge and points to which gallon of milk he wants you to pour from. For some reason, he always has to choose the milk that hasn't been opened yet, or the one with the most milk in it. Luckily we go through milk fast enough here that it manages to not spoil. He falls apart if it's not done in the right order or if the wrong milk is used. Funny boy! I'm like that too with some things though. He's always been a cuddler, and lately when I give him his milk, he wants me to hold him on a certain spot on the couch, and it HAS to be that certain spot, none other will do. After a full year without nursing, I feel like I'm doing it all over again! But it's nice to baby him while I can.
Another funny thing that Joseph and I both have observed on several different occasions is that when he sees garbage along the road, or sidewalk, or in a store, he has to stop and pick it up and throw it away. It has been hilarious to watch. I have to stop him lots of the time for hygiene reasons, but I'm glad he likes to make things look nicer. The funniest part is that Joseph is EXACTLY the same way. Of course he does it now, he can't stand to see litter. I'm used to it and I don't mind as long as he washed his hands, but in high school it drove me nuts! He would have beer cans in his car that he'd picked up and put in the car because he couldn't find a trash can. So Aaron, remember never put picked up beer cans in your car, people might get the wrong idea.
We sure love our Aaron!

P.S. Joe gave Aaron a buzz a couple of weeks ago. We all had a nice time rubbing his head, but I'm glad it's growing back so we can get his birthday pictures this month.

WOW!! Aaron sure looks different with a buzz cut - but they are the best way to do summer!
I agree with you about the nature of boys. I could discuss this in great length, but I will just say, boys will be boys ...
I love this tribute to your little man.
Aaron sure sounds like a fun little guy! I just love little boys, and he sure is a cutie. And I just scrolled down to your previous post...Congratulations! That's such exciting news, I'm thrilled for you!
