June seemed to be the month of parties of all kinds for us. We started out with Brynn's friend, M's birthday tea party. I was prepared for them to serve "real tea" like the host's of the last tea party we attended, but to our pleasant surprise, M's mom informed us that her tea was country time lemonade! Yay! It was so fun for us to get dressed up for the tea party. I had fun spending the afternoon with Brynn.
M's mom, throws a great party! She is so creative and has such fun ideas! They started out the party with several different stations of activities. Brynn won the award for knowing how to do a place setting at the table! The stations were: place setting, the highest sugar cube stacker, and making bead necklaces.
After the stations were complete, the kids sat down to have their tea party. I was so proud of Brynn, she was so polite and well-mannered. She remembered to put her napkin on her lap, and used all the right utensils, and conversed appropriately as they had their "tea." She was very cute!
During the tea party they pulled questions out of a basket to ask the children. Some of the questions were...What does your mom do? takes care of children What does your dad do? takes care of people who are sick or hurt How old are your mom and dad? they are both 31 What do you want to be when you grow up? a ballet teacher What are you scared of? rides at Disneyland
After the tea party portion was over, the kids went swimming. I was so proud of Brynn for acting appropriately during each phase of the party. When it was time to be serious she was, and when it was time to let loose and have fun, she did that too! I visited with the other adults and enjoyed salad and yummy homemade warm English scones. It was lots of fun for both of us.
The P's yard is so fun. It's great for hosting The longer we are here, the more we find that there are people and things we like about this area. There are things we don't like too, but we are entertaining the idea of buying a home here more and more as time goes by. I don't think we will stay here forever, but we are trying to decide if we can commit long enough to make a home purchase worth it. We are so glad we didn't purchase when we first moved here, since prices have fallen drastically. Now might be the best time to buy, especially since we are already spending nearly $20,000 a year on rent, but the thought and stress of trying to sell a home in a few years is daunting to me. We shall see, we shall see....
