We're packing up and heading out this weekend. My friend Karen and I are running in the Trinidad to Clam Beach run along the Northern Coast of California. Karen is originally from the area so she'll be our tour guide for the weekend. Trinidad is located about 300 miles northwest of Woodland, it's along the redwood coast. I have never seen the Redwoods before and I am really excited and ready to be amazed! I LOVE seeing new places. Trinidad used to be a whaling village and it is the smallest incorporated city in California. The diversity of the scenery should be gorgeous; rugged coastline, beaches and giant redwoods. We are all really excited for this adventure!
I'm also a little nervous......not about the 8.75 miles......I'm ready for that......
This is what I am nervous about......before the final mile, we are to cross through a cold, raging river that can be anywhere from calf, to thigh, to waist deep......I am a swimmer, but that's not the point, you are supposed to run through it....I pray I can make it without falling in...ha ha! Karen is a true outdoorswoman, I am more of a wannabe! This should be pretty funny!
We then take our frozen legs and frozen behinds and run the last mile along the ocean beach to the finishline.....and the bonfire, to thaw ourselves. The scenery should be amazing, hopefully that will distract me from the cold.
I am a fair weather runner, I only run outside in ideal weather.....that's why I have a gym membership.....so do you think I might be a little crazy? Probably! Wish me luck!

Oh my goodness! How fun! You will be fine. You will be warm from running, so just keep moving, don't stop. It will be beautiful! Dad and I need to retire so we can come and enjoy watching you and all of the grandkids. Good luck this weekend and be safe. We love you!!! Call us after the race to let us know all went well.
That sounds so dang fun. I wish I could do that. It will be an awesome adventure and you'll do great. You are crazy by the way but I am too. Good Luck! I can't wait to hear how you do.
That sounds like a fun adventure. Not something that happens everyday. Enjoy it and then blog about it so we can enjoy also!
Sometimes it's good to be a little crazy. Besides I don't think you're crazy, I think you're super tough! Not just any woman can do that. I couldn't even do the 8+ mile part (or even half that). Good luck this weekend!
Good Luck! Just enjoy the gorgeous scenery and realize what you are accomplishing. It will help get you through! Can't wait to read all about it. Hope we get some pics too!
I do think you are crazy, but I'm jealous. We are in training for the 5 mile run in Moab. I did it last year, but I think I'm going to die this year. I would say good luck, but you've probably already run at this point. Can't wait to hear about it.
That sounds awesome! Good luck!
I too have never seen the redwoods and would love to do that someday.
You 2 are nuts!!! How did it go?
Oh my goodness! Good for you! I can't imagine a more beautiful setting. Best of luck!
Sounds like the scenery should have been awesome. How did it go? Everyone is crazy about something. I think that's how we stay sane. I wish I were even slightly as in shape as you obviously must be!
Sounds like lots of fun. Can't wait to hear how everything goes!
