Nutcracker

The girls have been doing ballet since August of this past year. I heard wind of the HUGE Nutcracker Production that their studio puts on every year and decided in my mind that we weren't going to do it. Tryouts were October 2, the same day I was running the marathon, so I thought we had an easy out. Well, Abby saw the bright and sparkly Nutcracker Tryout poster and came to me with a twinkle in her eye, determined that she was going to be in the Nutcracker. I tried to talk her out of it, telling her that we could use the time and the money to visit Disneyland, the Zoo, Sea World. I tried to tell her that when our family members visited in October, we would have to spend time at rehearsals, and not get to spend as much time with them. I thought I had her convinced with all of the wonderful things we could do with our time, but she was convinced otherwise. We were about to leave town for St. George, but delayed our trip an hour or so, so that we could wait until the ballet office opened to register for the Nutcracker. It did take up a good portion of our time, but I was glad we did it and it was a wonderful experience for the girls. Abby especially enjoyed her moments on stage, even though they were few. Each rehearsal was a delight for her and she looked forward to each and every one. Getting the chance to dance on the stage in the beautiful theater was so exciting! Abby was a tiny Battle Mouse and Brynn was a Page. Grandma Rowene and Grandpa Billy came to watch the production. The boys also loved it. I love the Nutcracker. It was a magical way to start our Christmas week!
