spent Sunday 6 a.m. until 3:00 pm. at the church doing his normal bishopric responsibilities and then after feeding the missionaries and having a less active member over for a visit he spoke at a seminary fireside. The first day of seminary he was up preparing the classroom at 5 a.m., then to work and then Young Men's and a visit to another ward member. The kids went about 34 hours without seeing him those first days. He would wake up at the crack of dawn to teach, work, then do church work, come home to prepare again for seminary and do it all over again. After a few weeks of this, we were starting to feel like this..... Then last night a member of the Stake Presidency called (hum Halleluja).......Joseph met with him after bishopric meeting this morning and was RELEASED from being 1st counselor in the bishopric. Because the bishopric has served for about 4 1/2 years, when they called Joseph to teach early morning seminary, they decided to call a whole new bishopric. Our new bishop is James Ellis, with Craig Haley as 1st counselor and Robert Pratt as 2nd counselor. I am glad that Joseph was able to serve. We really have learned alot, but I have to admit, from all of us in the FamiLEE...

Welcome Back to the Pew!
When Joseph was called to the bishopric about 2 years ago, I wondered how we were going to do it. Joseph had just started a new job and it was proving to be very demanding, we had a very young family with plans to add more, and we had just moved to the area. We were shocked that day as we met with a member of the Stake Presidency, and I am sure he could see it in our eyes that night. Bishop Brooks promised us that we would be blessed for our willingness to serve. We were, both spiritually and temporally, but there were also many times I felt we were being burned at both ends. Sundays became as long as, and sometimes longer than workdays, and there were many nights spent doing meetings, activities, and ministry visits. When the Stake Presidency called Joseph to be seminary teacher a few months ago, they promised him that this meant a release from the bishopric. We waited and waited and waited and it just didn't happen. We started to think that maybe they weren't going to release him, and just decided, "Oh well, we'll just keep on keepin' on. " The first week of seminary he

How nice to have your hubby back by your side during church. Serving in a bishopric really can take a toll on a family and requires much sacrifice, but that service can really bless many. You guys are so great! We are so happy that we have become friends.
Yay!!! Wow.. you guys really have been burning, burning, burning lately. Glad that Sundays will be a little more of a family time for you now.
Joseph will be a great seminary teacher... I can see the wisdom in that calling for him!
Yay! I'm glad that he gets to let one of those balls fall, he has enough to juggle. And I'm really glad for you. :)
Amy, when I started teaching seminary last year, I was still YW pres for a few weeks and it got old fast. But still, Joseph had it way worse. I'm sad to hear that they were all released though. It makes me feel like the woodland we left is changing and it reminds me that a phase of our lives is definitely over. I hope you guys are doing well!
Whoa!!! Congratulations on getting your husband back on the pew! I imagine he is an awesome seminary teacher.
HOW FABULOUS FOR YOU!
I bet Joseph is an amazing Seminary teacher. They are SO important in the lives of our youth. I think maybe even more important than the youth leaders because they see them more often and every day (hopefully).
Rachel slept through Seminary the other day and her teacher texted her to let her know she was missed. She LOVED that he uses latest technology to keep up to do date.
Ben loves that he has the real hero (or is it true hero?) posters on his walls.
I came back to church because of my semimary teacher, Brother Haws.
No pressure on Joseph.
Anyway, congratulations on having him back! I know how you feel! We just got Larry back when we moved here. It has been WONDERFUL!
What a relief for you Amy! How nice to have help again during sacrament meeting. Tom has to work on Sundays sometimes and I know how hard it is to deal with children by yourself.
You can't do this to me at work! Here I am during lunch crying all by myself. I must admit though that I am shedding a tear because of happiness that you will be together a little more on Sunday's as well as being thankful that I have a daughter and grandchildren that do whatever it takes to make things work. I must admit you have been well taken care of in Woodland, and have touched so many lives of members and friends. How blessed those young members are to have Joe their teacher. He will be unbelieveable!
COngrats on having your spouse back! I would die without Nate next to me on Sundays!
Yipee! Joe is going to be a wonderful seminary teacher.
I needed this for times when I am feeling like we are strached a bit thin! congrats, i'm glad you have him back too!
Question for you Amy... Did Joseph go to school to be a Seminary teacher??? or is that just a calling by the church???
Hi Karen,
In answer to your question, No, he didn't go to school to be a seminary teacher, he went to school to be a lawyer, but he doesn't practice law either, kind of funny the way things turn out! :)
In areas where they don't have release time seminary (because there are not enough members of the church), they call members of the stake to teach seminary early in the morning. They receive training from CES representatives, and institute directors in the area on an ongoing basis, but they don't do the seminary program from BYU that the seminary teachers that taught us did.
Joseph teaches about 10 youth from our ward. We have about 1-2% LDS population where we are, so there aren't even close to enough people to start a release time seminary program.
