Isaac's eventful first week!

Isaac had a great first week. What a sweet and content baby. During the first week, he cried only when having his diaper changed in the middle of the night. When he woke up hungry, there was no crying, just hand sucking....Amazing! I told Joseph not to tell people what a good baby he is because Isaac might hear him and things might change. He is a little fussier now, but nothing to complain about.

Mom stayed here with us for a week and it was so nice to have her help. For the first few days, I was extremely sore and wasn't able to do very much. It was nice to have mom and Joe taking the kids wherever they needed to go and to just be able to rest. I am so grateful to have had their help.

The day before my mom left, we received the unfortunate news that my Grandpa Vest past away suddenly and unexpectedly. We were all saddened by the news and my mom felt really bad that she wasn't there for my Dad on such a difficult day. I debated on whether or not to go to Utah with such a new baby...but in the end I decided that I would probably always regret not going, so in true tradition for our family, Isaac went on his first airplane ride as a week old baby. The hardest part of getting there was getting him changed, fed, changed again, and then asleep before take-off. He did awesome! On the way home, the challenging part was nursing him in between two men, who were clearly business partners, they kept talking about business back and forth with me between them, I wish one of them would have traded me places. It was awkward to have Isaac smacking his lips while he nursed and to have to try to be discreet in such close quarters. Oh well, I will probably never see the men again. I kept him tucked in close and covered for the rest of the flight, he slept, and it all worked out.

Mom and Joe managed to run kids to and from school and dance and other activities, while I took it easy for the first few days. When I would get up to try to start laundry or clean something mom would insist I let her do it, but I told her I had to get started getting back to normal or I would never survive when she left.

I wish I were able to take more moments like these now....but, being the only adult again, I have to get back to multi-tasking.
Mom made enough food for the week to feed an army. We tease her about it, but it's nice to have meals to pull out of the freezer heat up and eat. She also baked something special with the kids on a few of the nights. We all loved having Grandma here, she was a huge help!

On the day Mom left, we made a trip to the Gap in Davis so Mom could hook Isaac up with some sweet new outfits. We were able to find some great deals and this boy should be set for the next few months. Afterward, we stopped at the Nugget to get some lunch. Mom bought Aaron and Abby one of their signature cupcakes with about 3 inches of frosting. Aaron was in heaven...sticky-icky heaven!
I'm so grateful she was able to come and I was so sad when she had to leave. I would love to have her live right next door.
Now we are in mere survival mode. My house is a complete disaster.....but it'll come....

What a cute little boy you have. It almost makes me want to have another. :) Aren't mom's the best? My mom stayed here last month for about two weeks. I loved having her here and it's always sad to see her go. We are blessed to have such wonderful mothers.

Isaac is adorable. You are too. Messy houses are every day. Babies get big fast. I am so glad that your mom was able to help!

Isaac is so cute! What would we do without our mothers, they do so much for us. I feel so blessed to have my mom so close to me. She is my best friend. I seen that your grandpa had passed away, but I didn't think that you would have came home. I'm sorry I missed you I would have loved to see you and isaac.
