What has YouTube done for you?

After running some errands the other day I came home to the sounds of "Wicked" playing in my house. I thought I would find my kids dancing and singing to the soundtrack like they always do. No, this time I found them all gathered around the computer... with Joe... watching clips from the musical via YouTube. I think they've seen nearly every song. So what has YouTube done for us? I figure they've saved us about $300.00 in the price of tickets, $200.00 in gas getting to LA, $150 for a hotel, $75 for food, and $25 in incidentals for a grand total savings of $750.00, and that's for Wicked alone. Of course going to see it with my husband would be, you guessed it .......priceless! Thanks YouTube!

It's funny you should ask.....I haven't been on YouTube personally until this week. Chris has frequented YouTube from time to time, but it's a pretty cool little tool. I'll have to check out Wicked. Chris and I saw it in NY and absolutely loved it!! My favorite so far.

I love You Tube as well. I think it's awesome all the money you saved not seeing the musical but I totally want to go see it whenever I am at all close to L.A. My kids love the song "Popular." Kristen Chenoweth is fabulous.

Jenni, I'm so jealous! My parents saw it in New York last fall and they're going to see it in L.A. next month. I was tempted to go with them, but they're going with friends again, so I think I won't tag along. :)

Kristina, my kids love that one too! I think Abby has it memorized word for word, of course she has Joe's musical memory so there aren't very many songs she's heard that she doesn't know by heart. It's so funny! i wish I had that trait.

We all LOVE Wicked! We have seen every video of it on YouTube. And as you know, Larry, Rachel and I are going to see it in LA in 50 short days. We just got the cheap seats - so we will be bringing our binoculars but I don't care! I think our entire family has it memorized (even Ben - unwilling listener) and none of us have Joe's memory either. I wish I did! No wonder he is always smiling.

Love, Tif

PS My current You Tube favorite can be found under "What Mom Says In A Day". I love it.

Funny thing... I just spent way too much time going through all the Wicked YouTube spots the other night.

And while it is enjoyable, you MUST NOT substitute it for the real deal. Amy, I am all in favor of you coming to LA... don't tag along... stay with us, and you and Joe can go. We'll watch the kiddos!!!

Priceless... and I'm serious...

i saw wicked in la and amy saw it in la and new york...she ditched me at a medical conference in nyc to see it without me.

we bought cheap seats too, but walked up to row just up from the edge of the balcony and the seats were fantastic...

my favorite memory of the soundtrack is listening to it on our long drives to oregon from slc during medical school. i would sing along too loud and amy would endure it.

That is the cutest picture! Joe is one smart guy to find that entertaining of a thing to do while you were away. I too love Wicked. Such a great play! I'll have to look it up.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Joe and I are going to Laguna Beach w/o kids in December and possibly in February so we've been doing some serious talking about driving to L.A. to se it at that time. Hmmmm...good to get those wheels turning. Glad to hear eveyone has enjoyed it and I can't wait to hear the Sant's report. I love Tiffany's reviews of anything. BTW Tiffany, I checked out "what mom says in a day." I can't believe that women could remember all those phrases, it reminded me of "i've been everywhere."

I get a kick out You Tube. We can always find clips that make us laugh. I also want to go see wicked sometime. We are only four hours from LA so I am hoping to make it there soon. I was happy to see Abby still wearing one of her "crowns" does she still wear them everyday?

Hi Alysia,
Yes, she still wears one everyday. We've added quite a few more to the collection. She's a little better at taking them off at my request, for formal pictures and stuff. But she's quick to put them right back on. Now we just try to work one that matches into the whole ensemble. She literally wore the same one for 1 1/2 years. I was starting to get worried.
