Where are we now?

Most of you know that we started out in Rancho Cordova, a suburb of Sacramento. We loved being close to the Sacramento Temple (about 15 minutes) and we really loved our house, though it was a little too big for our family, we've NEVER had that problem before, and we probably never will. We quickly found it was too big for our liking when we couldn't find our kids for a while the day we moved in, we only used about half of the house, and we didn't have enough furniture for each room (you can only spread a love seat, sofa, and recliner so far) . Maybe when we have more children and more money! Ha!

We've loved the visitors we've had so far. My Mom and Dad came at the end of May with my sister Emily. Joe's mom and younger siblings at home came at the end of June. And Emily came again this last week on her way home from her summer in Maine, New York, and Virginia. (I 'll do another post about the fun we had while she was here!)

Now we are in Woodland, CA in much a smaller house. and we still don't have enough furniture to fill it! But we like the open spaces, and we don't lose our children. Woodland is about 20 minutes Northwest of Sacramento. It's not a suburb of Sacramento. It's a smaller town with about 60,000 people. All in all we are really enjoying it here. We were nervous about how hot the summer could be. It wasn't too bad this summer. We had a few days in the low 100's but mostly 90's which we are used to. Enough about the weather. The greater Sacramento area isn't as densely populated as other parts of California. We have lots of agriculture fields all around. They are mostly commerical agriculture, so they look very organized, green and beautiful. Not like the smelly Lake Shore farms. (Sorry Bev!) There are a couple of big rivers running through the area and lots of biking opportunities, Joseph is having fun with that. So. . .even though there are things we don't love about California, and amidst the everyday challenges we face, we are surrounded by a little bit of wonderful. We just need our families to complete the bliss! Any takers!

I'm so glad that you guys are official bloggers. My site is very elementary, and I haven't really tried to make it much different....no time. It is a great way to stay connected though. It looks beautiful where you live and I'm glad that you are enjoying it. I second that it's hard living away from family. So far I can't get anyone to move to Colorado. FYI....the two of you look amazing!! You haven't changed a bit!! I look forward to future posts.

It was so fun to read your blog. What a good idea. Your kids look so much bigger. We can't wait to come and visit your new home. Love you lots.

Yay! I'm glad you started posting. Now it will be easier to keep in touch and see what you guys are up to. The area you are living in looks really pretty!

Welcome to the world of blogging! I've had a blog for years, but no one ever visits LiveJournal so it is quiet and unread! (And boring.) It will be lovely keeping up with you this way – I hope you post often and with many pictures! :)

Here's hoping that with more than one allison as a commenter you'll recognize which one is me. Perhaps if I mention Blaine or the seven kiddles somehow in each comment we'll all keep it straight. ;)

i love the background pattern for the blog. it's nice to see you're so happy here in california. it's funny that we live in the same state, but we can make in to spanish fork quicker than we can make it to your place...

the lake with rocks is nice. is that in your backyard?

joe: does the biking have any elevation change? when you come to disneyland we can bike to big bear from my place or something...?

i don't know if you still visit our blog, but you can find it here

oh, if it's okay for me to say, it would be nice to have time and date stamps to see when you posted...

Jenni - You are so kind. We've talked ahout Colorado being a place we could probably live. You'll have to let us know what you think after living there a while.

Melissa - So good to hear from you. Tell Josh that Joe LOVED the pictures and he is anxiously awaiting Josh's reply about the reply he sent to Josh. :)

Allison H. - Thanks for visiting! I've really enjoyed viewing your blog. You make me want to be a better mom!

Alyson - I knew it was you the second I saw the spelling, so I'll keep it straight. :) I have another friend who does livejournal so I wander over there occasionally. I would love to visit if you'll email me the address. I've been wondering what you thought of "Becoming Jane" or if you've seen it yet? If so, do you recommend it?

Paul - That is funny, we would rather drive your route to SF. The highlight of our drive to Utah is the big BM on the mountain at our halfway point in Battle Mountain.

The date and time are stamped, but in different places. The time is underneath the post.

To paul from joe - Ola Pablo! How are you my friend. Honestly I have not gotten into blogging at all, but I'm glad Amy Jo started our Familee blog. Woodland is in the Sacramento River Valley; it is extremely fertile, and there are crops everywhere. Most of my rides are real early morning, and I am surrounded by corn, tomato, walnut & almond trees, and fields of sunflowers. I really love the area, and there are countless miles of country roads. Mostly it is pretty flat, so I get plenty of time riding in the drop bar position. About 20 miles away there are some very steep, shorter climbs, that I will occasionally ride. We are located near Davis, CA; home of the UC Davis Aggies, and the cycling capital of America (so they claim). It is very flat there, but everyone uses bikes to commute-- A pretty cool, college, and boutique shop town. I would love to ride with you in So Cal when we are down there next! Talk to you again soon!

To Joe: Babe, you should blog more often so that you can leave longer posts and shorter comments. :)

Thanks! YA'LL come back now!

funny you say that amy. my brother is really into short comments as well. i am more of the opinion that if the post is of substance that is requisite of the commenters to comment with equal substance.

which isn't to say that pithy comments aren't better in most instances...

Joe and Amy said...

It's the Sacramento Temple! I know you can't really see the temple, but does the part you can see resemble the Redlands...or is it a full size temple?
