Funny Kids

My kids make me laugh so hard. My neighbors use to have a cow and then they slaughtered it for meat. They got a horse in it's place. I caught my kids trying to feed the horse grass the other day. Do we need a pet or what?!

Isaac came to me and said, "Mom, you gotta come to the garage and see my trick."  After I saw it, I thought, "Oh Boy, let's go find anti-bacterial soap for your face."

Dinner

Here is how we ate dinner for about the first week at our new house. Either standing up to the island, sitting on the island or on stepping stools, or up to the picnic table in the backyard. We felt a major sense of urgency to get to the furniture store. We had a counter height table and and chairs before, but they were really hard with the our little people, so we left those in Oceanside and had to look for new ones. My parents took the kids for our anniversary weekend and we went furniture shopping. It was so nice to get everything taken care of and great to know our children were safe. I hope our kids remember this funny memory of our first week in our house. We were feeling like we would never have furniture because it took so much time to break away to choose it with everything else that we had to do. We're still moving in, but definitely more livable now.

Open Mouth...Insert Foot

Today while we were waiting in line at Costco, Joseph noticed this furry friend stuffed into an over-sized Costco cart a couple of checkstands away from us. He said under his breath, "That is the biggest waste of fluff I have ever seen!" I couldn't see what he was talking about and I thought he was talking about something the lady ahead of us was buying, so I said, "Shhhh!" He then took my head in his hands and directed my vision to the enormous beast shown above. I started to laugh, and I think that's when the lady in front of us wondered what was up. Joseph decided to include her in our "little secret" by saying, "I was just telling my wife, that's the biggest waste of fluff I've ever seen, seriously, why would anyone buy one of those things?" She then turned to him and said, "He's buying that for my daughter." Joe responded with, "Where in the world are you going to keep it?" (I was waiting for her to say "just kidding" but she was completely serious.) "She'll sleep with it, along with all the other stuffed animals she has." I felt the blood rushing to my face from embarrassment and awkwardness, all I could think to say was, "Wow you must have really big bedrooms!"

I know that kids love stuffed animals, my kids drool over the soft, fluffy, furry friends... literally and figuratively... so we have a rule, if it doesn't fit in the washing machine, it doesn't belong in our house. But, I guess it's good that there are people out there willing to give these critters a home.

And Joseph has learned to keep his opinions about other's Costco purchases to himself.

(For the record, the stats of the mass: over 5 feet long and almost 2 feet wide and tall.)

The Mystery of the Black Socks

We've had a funny phenomenon going on around here. There are only a couple of months here where the weather is cold enough that I need to wear socks and even then, there are days here and there when flip flops will do. Well lately while folding clothes, I've noticed that I keep folding some of my black dress socks. At first I thought they had been at the bottom of the basket and I had somehow missed them for a long time, then a few days later, it happened again. I dismissed it again and thought the kids probably threw them in the laundry hamper, because I know I haven't worn them for about 6 months. When it happened about the 4th time, I started to think it was really odd and that I might be going crazy. Then while we were getting ready for family prayer the other morning, Joseph started putting on his socks, but they weren't his socks...they were MINE! We had a good laugh about how I thought I was going crazy. He said that when he can't find black socks, he just raids my drawer. Mystery solved! They did look a little funny! I guess it's time to go shopping for more socks!
